RACS is the National Awarding body in Sweden for the European Association for Counselling. It holds the exclusive right to award the European Certificate of Counselling (ECCaccred) to Swedish 'samtalsterapeuter' that meet internationally agreed criteria for the counselling profession.
RACS has also created a national accreditation scheme with stringent criteria to make it easier for clients to find therapists with sound theoretical and clinical training that includes at least 850 theoretical teacher-led training hours, personal therapy, supervision, and many more quality criteria.
Through accreditating eligible training organisations, RACS will create a body of counsellors in Sweden that are synonymous with professionalism and reliability. Since March 2011 the Psychosynthesis Institute in Gothenburg, the Expressive Arts Institute AB in Stockholm, as well as the Psychoythesis Academy in Stockholm have been accredited. More organisations are to follow.
RACS has also been an active partner in the Swedish Social Departments Qualification Requirements Enquiry.
